Meet Bernie Donner:
- I am highly educated in the areas of English, writing, literature, and history.
- I know how to facilitate a love of the written word from my life to my teaching practice.
- I view parents as integral members of the educational team, and I am eager to continue to collaborate with families both within and outside of school.
- I have designed and developed a rigorous academic program for middle and high school students, thoroughly preparing them for the next step in a successful academic career.
- I possess the necessary personal and professional traits that will help students become successful communicators, specifically in the areas of writing, oral presentations, and interpersonal interactions.
Bernie's Education and Background:
- Graduate of Bishop Diego High School
- B.A. from St. Mary's College in Moraga
- Master's degree and teaching credential from UCSB
- Administrative credential from Fielding University
- CTEL Certificate from UCLA
13 years of Teaching Experience:
- 6th, 7th, and 8th grade Middle School English teacher, SB Charter School
- 9th grade English Teacher, SB Middle School
- 9th, 11th, and 12th grade English student teacher, Dos Pueblos High School
Bernie has a strong foundation for meeting individual and family needs in order to foster academic success and rekindle a love of learning.

Our Business
SBAC was founded in 2009. We are former and current classroom teachers who specialize in helping students, 6th grade through college, in all academic areas. We offer summer help to students of all grades, Kindergarten through college.
Meet Laura Donner: 
Laura Donner is now coaching students in grades 1 through 5!
I have worked with children in grades 1 through 3 as a classroom teacher for the past 15 years at Santa Barbara Charter School. Also, I have offered summer tutoring programs as well as run summer camps in years past. I am able to meet your child's academic needs in math, reading, writing, and spelling, in addition to providing art and science enrichment activities.
If your child needs help with reading fluency, comprehension, decoding, or other reading skills, I can support his or her learning. Additionally, I can provide maintenance activities for spelling skills. We can work on writing sentences, creative writing, and applying rules and conventions in written work. I am equally skilled in math instruction, and can help re-teach, maintain, or develop skills in all areas of math.
